Australia's last two ADF members, missing-in-action in Vietnam since November 1970, have returned home! The RAAF search for the missing crew of No 2 Squadron Canberra, Magpie 91, was completed in April 2009 when the wreckage of Canberra aircraft A84-231 was found in the jungles of Vietnam, together with the remains of Mike Herbert and Bob Carver, the pilot and navigator. The RAAF, aided by the Army Historical Unit, the Defence Scientific and Technology Organisation and Operation Aussies Home, did an outstanding job in locating the wreckage and repatriating the crew's remains back to Australia and their families. The Homecoming ceremony and the Air Force funerals accorded both Mike and Bob made both the serving and veteran members of 2 Squadron proud of their Air Force. Well done to the Chief of Air Force and his dedicated team.
