EM Lane Concordians’ Museum Opens, Celebrating Australia’s Military Nursing Legacy

BATTLE OF BRITAIN ‘LACE’

A new chapter in preserving Australia’s military nursing history has begun with the grand opening of the EM Lane Concordians’ Museum at Concord Repatriation General Hospital.

The museum, a vibrant tribute to the courage and dedication of military nurses, has just opened its doors to the public, offering a captivating journey through decades of service.

Inaugurated on 9 May 2025 and named in honour of Mrs Ethel ‘Stalky’ Lane AM MBE, the museum is proudly supported by the Concordians’ Association.

It aims to collect, preserve, and display artefacts, including a remarkable collection of nursing uniforms from the Boer War and a rich archive of diaries, photographs and memorabilia spanning the 1890s to the Vietnam War.

Open Monday to Friday from 10AM to 2PM, the museum offers free entry and welcomes group tours.
