Reminder for Victorian Members — Access Your Veterans Card Benefits

Victorian members are reminded of a valuable resource available — The Veterans Card – Victoria. This initiative, established to honour those who have served in the Australian Defence Force (ADF), offers an array of benefits that you may be entitled to access.

The Veterans Card is available to all past and present ADF members residing in Victoria, including those on active duty, veterans and Reservists. It’s important to note, however, that civilian ADF employees are not eligible for this card.

The Veterans Card provides a suite of benefits designed to aid and thank you for your service. These include a $100 discount on light vehicle registration and free registration for trailers and caravans. Additionally, it offers a free marine licence, exemption from fishing licences, and complimentary public transport on Anzac Day and Remembrance Day. The card also grants access to veteran employment programs, demonstrating Victoria’s commitment to supporting its service members in various facets of life.

Applying for the card requires one of the following ID numbers: PMKeyS number, Regimental or Service number or DVA Card number. You will also need to provide two identity documents with matching names, such as a Medicare card, Australian birth certificate, current driver licence, current or recently expired Australian passport, ImmiCard, foreign passport with a valid Australian visa or Australian citizenship certificate.

The use of your personal information for the Veterans Card is regulated by Victorian laws, ensuring privacy and data protection.

This information is shared with the Department of Families, Fairness and Housing (DFFH) only for card issuance purposes. Anonymous data on card usage might be shared with government departments to enhance the program, but your personal information is securely handled and used strictly within legal parameters.

For those who haven’t yet availed themselves of this opportunity, more information and the application process can be found by visiting https://service.vic.gov.au/services/veterans-card-victoria and to apply https://www.vic.gov.au/concessions-veterans
