Veterans’ and Families’ Hubs expand across north west Tasmania

BATTLE OF BRITAIN ‘LACE’

Veterans and families in north west Tasmania will now have improved access to tailored services and support following the opening of the new Veterans’ and Families’ Hub in Burnie on 13 June 2024.

Established by the North West Tasmanian Veteran Welfare Board, the hub will provide a range of services to veterans and families with a particular focus on health and wellness support, provided by general practitioners operating on site.

The Burnie Hub’s offering will be complemented by a mobile outreach clinic, taking services to smaller towns and rural communities in the region.

Whilst services have previously been provided from an existing support centre, this funding has enabled the establishment of a premises with a larger and more visible presence, helping to reach more veterans and families.

The hubs provide veterans and families access to a wide range of services, including transition, employment, education and training and advocacy services, as well as support with mental and physical health.

The Australian Government is committed to improving the health and wellbeing of veterans and families across the country, with $2.2 million in grant funding provided to the North West Tasmanian Veteran Welfare Board to support the development of the Burnie Veterans’ and Families’ Hub.
