AFA-SA Meet with new Director Veterans SA

BATTLE OF BRITAIN ‘LACE’

In late August, AFA-SA President, Mr Lawrence Ng, and two Vice-Presidents, Dr Robert Black and GPCAPT Greg Weller, met with the new Director Veterans SA, Ms Bianca Wheeler, to talk about how the two organisations could better work together to support Air Force veterans.

As a South Australian Government agency, Veterans SA is the lead advocate across the South Australian Government on matters relating to veterans and their families. Veterans SA works with ex-service organisations and civic groups that provide support to members of the community when and where it is needed most. The agency also plays a role in sharing information about services, programs and opportunities across South Australia that are available to those who have served in the Australian Defence Force and their families. It works with the veteran community to ensure commemoration activities are supported and that occasions of military and historical significance are remembered and preserved for all South Australians.

Bianca assumed the role of Director Veterans SA last month and the purpose of the visit with AFA-SA was to introduce her to our Association, show her around Torrens Parade Ground Veterans and Commemorative Precinct, brief her on AFA-our support to Air Force veterans through camaraderie, commemoration, assistance and advocacy, and discuss how our organisations could work better.

During her visit, Bianca visited the Air Force Memorial and paid her respects to the aviators who have served and paid the ultimate sacrifice over the last 100 years in the service of our Nation.
