The articles here showcase some of the exciting activities from our State and Territory Divisions, and the new Federation Council, and will also pass on important information from a national perspective.
We are excited to be sharing this information with you every two months, and we hope that this will help you stay connected with the Air Force Association community. AFA-SA Honours our Women Veterans particularly our WAAAFs and WRAAFs
On Wednesday 18 March, AFA-SA conducted a simple yet poignant wreath laying at the Air Force Memorial, Torrens Parade Ground, to mark the 85th anniversary of the formation of the Women’s Auxiliary Australian Air Force (WAAAF) and the 75th anniversary of the formation of the Women’s Royal Australian Air Force (WRAAF).

Marking the Air Force Birthday in South Australia
On Tuesday 31 March 2026, AFA-SA joined with members of the Air Force Family and the broader community at two events to mark the 105th Air Force Birthday and the anniversary of its formation as an independent service.
George is back home
After a time away from the AWM the iconic Lancaster “G” for George is now back on as the focal point for the Display area titled Australians in Bomber Command.
RAAFA Queensland Honours Air Forces Legacy at Annual Memorial Service
Brisbane’s Queens Gardens Park has been the setting for a moving tribute as the AFC & RAAF Association Queensland Division hosted the Australian and Allied Air Forces Memorial Service.
Veterans’ Day at Southport Flying Club Full of Friendship and Remembrance
Under clear April skies, the Southport Flying Club on the Gold Coast has hosted a memorable Veterans Day event that perfectly blended aviation passion with heartfelt tribute to Australia’s veterans.
Organised by Club President Craig Hobart and his committed team, the special occasion opened with a moving service of remembrance, followed by the dedication of a new memorial near the club’s entrance.
Improving access to early assessment and treatment for tinnitus
Hearing conditions such as hearing loss and tinnitus often develop gradually. With early assessment and timely treatment, the impact of symptoms can often be reduced and the progression of the condition better managed.
Free online mindfulness program for veterans and families
When Royal Australian Air Force veteran EJ was medically discharged from Defence and going through a marriage breakdown, the impact on her mental and physical health was, at times, overwhelming. During this very difficult period, EJ reached out to Open Arms – Veterans & Families Counselling which invited her to join an eight‑week Mindfulness‑Based Stress Reduction (MBSR) program.
Travel for treatment
The Department of Veterans’ Affairs (DVA) is monitoring the emerging situation of fuel price increases and potential impacts on veterans eligible for travel for treatment covered by their Veteran Card.
Air Force Association Strengthens Ties at Leadership Proficiency Awards
The Air Force Association was proud to support the recent Air Force Leadership Proficiency Awards, continuing a long tradition of recognising excellence across the service.
Deanna Nott, National Vice President and Director Communications of the Air Force Association, had the honour of presenting one of the event’s major accolades — the Most Proficient Squadron award. The Association has proudly presented this prestigious recognition since 1961.
