AFA To Steer Scootaville Moving Forward

Scootaville, the mini motorbike ride, will become a flagship fundraising event of the Air Force Association.

Long-serving RADS Association Secretary/Honorary Treasurer Trevor Benneworth, who has raised an impressive $54,000 for Legacy Australia after successfully orchestrating Scootaville for the past two years, offered to ‘hand over the keys’ to the AFA.

“While I will still support Scootaville and be involved in the event, I thought it was time to hand over the event’s management to the Air Force Association,” said Trevor, who designed Scootaville to provide an annual wellbeing event for veterans and raise funds for a selected charity.

“I want the money raised to support our veterans and their families.”

AFA and Legacy will co-brand for the 2024 events, set to be held later this year in Queensland and New South Wales, with AFA assuming full management of this impactful fundraising initiative from 2025 onwards.

Scootaville Queensland 2024 is gearing up for a trip through the heart of Queensland, covering 2,390 km from August 27 to September 17. New South Wales riders are set to embark on a 1,699 km journey through New South Wales from November 19 to December 6, stopping in Mudgee, Dubbo, Wagga and Canberra.

AFA President Carl Schiller said the National Board closely considered Trevor’s offer and unanimously supported the decision to manage Scootaville moving forward.

“The decision highlights AFA’s commitment to actively support meaningful initiatives that align with our organisation’s mission and values,” said Carl.

“Through Scootaville we aim to elevate AFA’s visibility while also raising money for projects focused on alleviating veteran homelessness.”

AFA is committed to identifying sponsorship opportunities, securing extensive media coverage, seeking essential Air Force support and developing a robust formal risk assessment and mitigation strategy.
