Australia Marks 75th Anniversary of Korean War Service with National Commemorative Service

BATTLE OF BRITAIN ‘LACE’

This year marks the 75th anniversary of Australian service in the Korean War, and the Department of Veterans’ Affairs (DVA) will honour the occasion with a National Commemorative Service on 25 June 2025 at the Australian National Korean War Memorial on Anzac Parade, Canberra.

The service will pay tribute to the more than 18,000 Australian military personnel who served during the Korean War (1950-53) and its post-armistice period (1953-57). Over 350 Australians lost their lives, more than 1,200 were wounded, 30 were taken prisoner, and over 40 remain missing in action. The event will also recognise the sacrifices of the families who supported them.

The ceremony will be broadcast nationally by the Australian Broadcasting Corporation (ABC) and streamed online, with the broadcast available to other networks, allowing Australians to join in remembrance from home. A pre-service program begins at 10.00am, and attendees are advised to arrive by 9.45am to secure seating. Complimentary tea, coffee, and water will be provided.

Those planning to attend are encouraged to register at dva.gov.au/Korea75 to help organisers prepare adequate arrangements, though tickets are not required. The memorial is located on Anzac Parade, south of the Australian War Memorial, with road closures and restricted areas in place. Attendees should follow staff directions and plan their journey to arrive early.

Lest we forget.
