Bomber Command Commemorative Service Honours RAAF Legacy

BATTLE OF BRITAIN ‘LACE’

The Air Force Association Queensland Division has held its annual Bomber Command Commemorative Service, a solemn tribute to the Royal Australian Air Force’s enduring traditions.

“I very much appreciate the participation of all who attended the Bomber Command Commemorative Service (BCCS) on Sunday 1st June. All branches located in the South East Queensland region were represented, which is a pleasing outcome,” said Queensland State President John Bushell.

“I consider commemoration of the valour and devotion to service of those who built the proud traditions of the RAAF to be of great importance among the RAAF Association activities.”

The service was live-streamed for those unable to attend, and you can view or share it here: Watch the Service.

Reflecting on the Association’s commitment, Bushell said, “It is important that we continue commemorative events in the RAAFA calendar. We now have the BCCS and RAAF Anniversary on a date close to 31st March arranged by the Division and other events such as the Battle of Britain and Battle for Australia service arranged in Toowoomba and the Pilgrimage managed by Townsville Branch.

“My compliments to all who devote their efforts to make these events a solemn commemoration of the traditions of the RAAF.”

He said in 2026 he expected the BCCS would be observed on Sunday 7 June – the first Sunday in June.
