Bond University Study Seeks Health Practitioners’ Insights on Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy for Veterans with PTSD

BATTLE OF BRITAIN ‘LACE’

Bond University is seeking input from Australian health practitioners for a national research project exploring the potential benefits of hyperbaric oxygen therapy (HBOT) in treating veterans with post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD).

The study, led by PhD candidate Nick Bradley, forms part of a broader research program that will include a clinical trial in 2026. The goal of the trial is to evaluate whether HBOT — a treatment that delivers pure oxygen in a pressurised chamber — can enhance recovery outcomes for veterans with PTSD. Findings from the study are expected to help inform future Department of Veterans’ Affairs (DVA) policy and funding decisions.

The current survey is open to all Australian health practitioners, including general practitioners, psychiatrists, psychologists, physiotherapists, osteopaths, chiropractors, naturopaths and other allied health professionals.

The survey takes approximately 10 minutes to complete and seeks to capture practitioners’ knowledge, beliefs and experiences relating to HBOT and its possible role in supporting veterans’ mental health.
