New Air Force Association Badge Approved by Chief of Air Force

BATTLE OF BRITAIN ‘LACE’

The Air Force Association (AFA) is pleased to announce that the new AFA badge has received formal approval from the Chief of Air Force (CAF).

The updated badge represents a contemporary evolution of the Association’s branding, aligning it with current Royal Australian Air Force standards while preserving the core elements and proud heritage that have defined the AFA since 1943. It will now be used across all national, divisional and branch communications, websites, publications and official materials.

National Vice President and Director Communications Deanna Nott said the approval marks an important step forward for the organisation.

“The new badge ensures the Air Force Association presents a modern, professional and cohesive image to our members, the RAAF, veterans and the wider community,” said Deanna.

“It reflects who we are today while honouring the legacy of service that has always been at the heart of the AFA.”

Deanna said a clear and pragmatic transition plan was now in place to support all levels of the Association.

“We have developed a straightforward implementation and communications plan that minimises cost and disruption,” she said.

“Digital assets such as websites, email signatures, letterheads and presentations will be updated immediately.

“Physical items like ties, lapel badges and plaques will transition sensibly as existing stock is used. We expect the majority of the transition to be complete by 30 June 2027.”

Mixed use of the old and new badges is acceptable during the transition period. After 30 June 2027 the new badge should be used for all new materials.

The Air Force Association thanks the Chief of Air Force and the RAAF for their support in approving the new badge. This change strengthens our ability to serve Air Force people, past and present.
