The Australian Government has decided not to proceed with the proposed $5,000 allied health service threshold due to start on 1 July 2027.
This means eligible Veteran Card holders will continue to access allied health treatment under the current arrangements.
The decision follows consideration of feedback from the veteran community, including veterans, families of veterans, ex-service organisations, health providers and other stakeholders.
DVA appreciates the constructive and respectful engagement of everyone who participated in consultation activities and had their say.
The Australian Government and DVA remain committed to supporting veterans’ health and wellbeing and ensuring veterans continue to receive clinically appropriate care when they need it.
As part of the 2026–27 Budget, the Government announced an increase in allied health fees paid by DVA. The fee increase remains and is intended to encourage more allied health providers to deliver services to DVA clients, helping veterans access the support they need and reducing barriers to care.
