RAAFA WA Opens Sir Valston Hancock House to Support Veterans

BATTLE OF BRITAIN ‘LACE’

Western Australia’s first targeted accommodation program for local veterans, Sir Valston Hancock House, was officially opened on 25 September 2024.

Air Force Association National Vice President, Deanna Nott, and RAAF WA President, Clive Robartson were in attendance to mark the occasion alongside other dignitaries.

The event was attended by the Governor of Western Australia, His Excellency the Honourable Christopher John Dawson AC APM and his wife Mrs Darrilyn Dawson, as well as The Hon. Matt Keogh MP, Minister for Veterans’ Affairs and Defence Personnel, The Hon. Paul Papalia CSC MLA, WA Minister for Defence Industry and Veterans Issues and Michelle Fyfe APM, RAAF WA CEO.

Sir Valston Hancock House is a project delivered by RAAFA, with support from RSL WA and Hancock Prospecting, who purchased and refurbished the South Perth property in December 2023.

The purpose-built facility aims to provide a safe haven for WA veterans. Over the next 12 months, RAAFA plans to welcome at least 15 veterans as part of its commitment to addressing homelessness within the veteran community.
