AFA-SA Bids Farewell to AIRCDRE Maso and Welcomes AIRCDRE Fifield

BATTLE OF BRITAIN ‘LACE’

The Air Force Association (South Australia) recently gathered at the historic Torrens Parade Ground in Adelaide for a special evening of tribute and transition.

The event honoured the outstanding service of Air Commodore Adrian Maso as he departs his role as Senior Air Force Representative in South Australia and Commander of the Air Warfare Centre, while warmly welcoming his successor, AIRCDRE Grant Fifield.

Hosted at the Combined Ex-Services Mess, the reception brought together military leaders, government representatives and community stakeholders to celebrate the enduring partnership between RAAF Edinburgh and AFA-SA.

Guest of Honour, Governor of South Australia, Her Excellency, The Honourable Frances Adamson AC, commended AIRCDRE Maso’s leadership in adapting the Air Warfare Centre to evolving strategic challenges. South Australian Minister for Veterans Affairs, The Hon Joe Szakac MP, also recognised his contributions to the veteran community. Other dignitaries included SA Minister for Defence and Space Industry Hon Stephen Mullighan MP, shadow State Minister for Veterans Affairs Nicola Centofanti MP and Federal MP Matt Burnell.

More than 60 guests, including Air Force personnel, Australian Air Force Cadets,and community leaders, attended to celebrate AIRCDRE Maso’s achievements and welcome AIRCDRE Fifield. Over the past two years, AIRCDRE Maso strengthened ties between RAAF Edinburgh and AFA-SA, particularly in commemorations, heritage and veteran support.

AFA-SA thanks AIRCDRE Maso for his service and wishes him well in Canberra. The Division warmly welcomes AIRCDRE Fifield and his wife Megan, looking forward to continued collaboration with RAAF Edinburgh.
