BATTLE OF BRITAIN ‘LACE’
The popular charity ride Scootaville is hitting the road again in 2025 — and this year, it’s set to support both Legacy and the Air Force Association, raising funds and awareness for veterans and their families.
Organised by the Radschool Association Inc, a registered charity formed in 1999 to represent Air Force-trained electronics operators and maintainers, Scootaville is more than just a scooter ride. It’s a two-week touring holiday through regional Australia with a strong community and charitable purpose at its heart.
This year, the Radschool Association has confirmed that some of the funds raised will be donated to the Air Force Association, specifically in support of initiatives to assist homeless veterans.
“We’re proud to be able to support the Air Force Association’s work with homeless veterans,” said Trevor Benneworth, who runs Scootaville.
“These events are a great way to reconnect people, raise awareness, and give something back to those who’ve served.”
Scootaville 2025 will feature two major rides:
- Queensland Route (24 Aug – 13 Sept): Departing Brisbane and visiting and overnighting Toowoomba, Goondiwindi, St George, Cunnamulla, Thargomindah, Quilpie, Charleville, Blackall, Barcaldine, Emerald, Biloela, Gayndah, Kingaroy and then back to Brisbane, spending several nights in the flood affected towns of Cunnamulla, Thargomindah, Quilpie where community events are planned to lift local spirits.
- Victoria Route (16 Nov – 1 Dec): Starting in Laverton, riders will travel through Beechworth, Sale, Geelong, Ballarat, and more, returning to Laverton after two weeks of regional engagement and fun.
The event brings together ex-service members and the broader community, offering participants a chance to share experiences, raise awareness of veterans’ issues, and highlight the strength of regional Australia.
“Scootaville is all about mateship,” said Benneworth. “It celebrates what it means to be Australian and helps shine a light on the challenges that veterans can face after their service.”
