The spectacular inaugural Pacific Airshow Gold Coast

The spectacular inaugural Pacific Airshow Gold Coast

The inaugural Pacific Airshow Gold Coast took to the skies from 18 to 20 August. Set against the stunning backdrop of Surfers Paradise beach, this aviation extravaganza left more than 200,000 attendees in awe and showcased the cutting-edge capabilities of the Australian Defence Force and the United States military.

The airshow was a celebration of alliances and partnerships, symbolising the deep-rooted friendship between Australia and the United States. A key highlight was the participation of various impressive aircraft from around the world, including stars from both the Royal Australian Air Force (RAAF) and United States Defense.

From the Australian Defence Force, attendees witnessed the heart-stopping performance of the RAAF F/A-18F Super Hornet, The RAAF C-17A Globemaster III and the Air Force Roulettes. Additionally, the RAAF C130J Hercules made a thrilling appearance, complete with flares, showcasing its impressive capabilities as a versatile military transport aircraft.

The debut appearance of the US Air Force KC-135R Stratotanker Demo Team wowed the crowd. This aerial refuelling powerhouse has played a vital role in the United States Air Force’s global reach mission for over six decades. The US Marine Corps MV-22B Osprey Demo, a remarkable vertical take-off and landing tilt-rotor aircraft, demonstrated its combat prowess. Other popular displays were from the US Air Force C-17A Globemaster III and Royal Canadian Air Force’s CC-150 Polaris, a multi-purpose, long-range aircraft used for military passenger, freight or medical transport.

The event owed a significant part of its resounding success to the strategic efforts of Wings Public Relations, led by Managing Director Deanna Nott, who is a Wing Commander Reservist in the Royal Australian Air Force and a member of the National Board of the Air Force Association.
